Most mediators will work with couples through a divorce. When couples are having problems communicating with one another this is where the mediator steps in. The mediator does not take either side, and will listen to both sides, and come up with a solution, or a compromise that will satisfy both parties.
To receive the experience to become a professional mediator it is best to work with someone who already has years of mediation experience. The new mediator can watch and listen to the experienced mediator and learn the steps in order for them to become a great mediator.
The mediator will have meetings with each person alone and listen to what they have to say about the particular situation. Once those meetings are completed everyone will be brought together, and the mediator will have read over their notes coming to a decision that will assist the lawyers and clients in the case.
